We purchase all real gold from 6K to 24K — jewelry, coins, bullion, scrap, antique watches, and inherited estate pieces. Every item is evaluated individually with free shipping, no obligation, and fast payment.
Get My Free Kit →If it's real gold, we buy it. Whether you have a single broken chain in a drawer, inherited a jewelry box full of pieces, or want to sell coins from a collection, MailGoldOnline accepts gold in nearly any form or condition.
This page outlines exactly what we purchase, what we don't, and how the evaluation process works for different types of items. If you have questions about a specific piece, call or text us at (630) 593-3510 before sending.
We buy all types of gold jewelry — from everyday wear to fine designer pieces. Items don't need to be in perfect condition. Broken, tangled, missing-stone, and damaged pieces are all welcome.
Many of our customers send us inherited pieces — jewelry from parents, grandparents, or estates they've recently received. We understand these items often carry sentimental weight, and we approach each evaluation with that in mind.
If you're processing an estate, we can accept multiple pieces in one shipment. There's no minimum quantity or value requirement.
Broken doesn't mean worthless. The gold content of a damaged piece is the same as an intact piece — it just needs to be processed at a refinery. We accept:
The karat number stamped on your gold tells you its purity. Pure gold is 24K, and each step down indicates a lower percentage of actual gold mixed with other metals for durability.
| Karat | Gold Content |
|---|---|
| 24K | 99.9% gold |
| 22K | 91.7% gold |
| 21K | 87.5% gold |
| 18K | 75% gold |
| 14K | 58.3% gold |
| 10K | 41.7% gold |
| 6K–8K | 25–33% gold |
We accept all real gold from 6K and above. Even smaller quantities of lower-karat gold add up when combined with other pieces. If your items don't have a karat stamp, our professional XRF testing can determine the exact gold content.
Some items may have karat stamps that have worn off over time. Send them anyway — testing will identify the actual purity.
We purchase gold coins from any era, country, or denomination, as well as bullion in any size or form.
Pre-1933 United States gold coins are particularly desirable. These include:
Many of these coins carry numismatic value above their gold content. We evaluate based on both the metal value and any collector value when applicable.
We accept gold bars and bullion of any size or refiner, including:
Some of the most valuable items customers send us are antique pocket watches and vintage timepieces from the 1800s and early 1900s. These often contain significant amounts of solid gold in their cases, movements, and hands.
If you have an antique pocket watch and aren't sure if it's gold or gold-filled, send it in. Many older pieces are marked clearly, and our XRF testing can identify the gold content of any unmarked items.
For modern luxury watches (Rolex, Cartier, etc.), we evaluate the gold content only. We do not pay designer premium or watch market value — only the gold weight is considered. If you have a high-value modern luxury watch, specialty watch buyers may offer more for the timepiece itself.
Small pieces add up. We accept gold in any form, including:
If you've collected a small bag of mixed gold pieces over the years, send everything together. Each item is evaluated individually based on its karat and weight.
Start My Free Kit Request →If your gold piece contains diamonds, gemstones, or other stones, we still buy the gold. Here's how the evaluation works:
The lab-grown diamond market has dramatically reduced the resale value of all diamonds — natural and synthetic. We do not assign separate value to lab-grown diamonds in any offer. If your ring contains lab-grown stones, we'll still buy the gold content.
For high-quality natural diamonds, we may evaluate them separately on a case-by-case basis. Specifically:
If you believe your piece may qualify, call or text us at (630) 593-3510 before shipping. We can discuss your specific stones and let you know what to expect.
For uncertified diamonds or smaller stones, we recommend specialty diamond buyers or local jewelers for the stone value separately.
We're transparent about what falls outside our scope so you don't waste time shipping items that won't generate offers.
Items with thin gold coating over base metal. The actual gold content is too low to be worth processing.
Items with a thicker gold layer bonded to base metal. Common in vintage pieces but still not solid gold.
Gold layer over sterling silver. The silver content alone isn't enough for our current operations.
Items made from base metals, brass, or pot metal — regardless of appearance or "gold tone" finish.
We are gold-focused at this time. Sterling silver and pure silver are not accepted in our current operations.
Crowns, fillings, and bridges with gold content. We don't accept dental gold at this time.
These do not receive separate value — only the gold around them is purchased.
No separate value assigned for any stones except GIA-certified natural diamonds over 0.5 carat.
Most solid gold items are stamped with their karat. Use these stamps as a quick guide:
If you're unsure, look for any stamps on clasps, inside rings, or on the back of pendants. Items without stamps can sometimes still be solid gold — these we can test for you.
We're expanding our services. The following will be available in the near future:
We're preparing to accept platinum jewelry, bars, and coins. Check back or call (630) 593-3510 for the latest updates.
Palladium is a precious metal that's gained significant value in recent years. We'll be accepting palladium items soon.
Pure silver and sterling silver acceptance is on our roadmap. Request any gold kit — we'll let you know when silver is added.
Every item is evaluated individually based on its weight, purity, and the current market price of the precious metal. We use professional XRF analysis to verify the actual content of each piece, ensuring our offers reflect what you're actually selling.
Offers are typically issued within 24 hours of receiving your package, and the breakdown shows you exactly what you're being paid for.
